Description

Pefloxacin Infusion is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic prescribed for:

• Treatment of uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis in males

• Gram-negative bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract

Dosage & Administration

• Oral (Adults): 400 mg twice daily for 7–10 days, to be taken with food.

• Intravenous Infusion (Adults): 400 mg in 100 ml of 5% dextrose solution, given as a slow infusion over 1 hour, twice daily.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with a history of brain or spinal cord disorders, epilepsy, kidney or liver impairment.

• Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight as it may cause severe sunburn.

• Not recommended for children below 12 years of age.
